Prepare for the journey to a better life

There should be a lot of things you have to consider before arriving in Australia... in our case before arriving to Melbourne (if nothing changes, Melbourne is our destination).

So in order to be prepared (maybe it is late ...? ) here is what I think should be done:

Select the desired destination

- study & prepare a list with Melbourne areas/suburbs
- reduce it to a short list
- for each of them study : transportation (how long it takes to / from etc) , schools, price for rent/buy, crime figures (in my opinion this is related only to statistics ... ), supermarkets, places to visit

A good report might be this one "Where to Live in Melbourne - The Report" :

Maybe I will buy it ...

Prepare to have a job as soon as possible

I think that a good thing to do while waiting for the visa to be processed is to start searching for a job.
A good approach is to search for something that can be done remote and to offer to work voluntary. Maybe this will help as Australian experience and will be much easier to find something there.

Prepare your "exit" from your country

I have had some experience with other countries closer to Romania - it will be difficult when you move to a new home & country if you have here your own house and you know where everything is located. (if you need a hammer, you know where is yours)
So ... it order to be prepared and to have a smooth transition, I think you need to lighten your life here - keep only what you strictly need, don't buy new things that you will throw away (or give to somebody from your family) when you'll leave...
